Cheryl van Adrichem

Cheryl van Adrichem is a Lecturer in Cultural Geography at the Wageningen School of Social Sciences, part of Wageningen University & Research. She is actively engaged in research related to climate risks for tour operators, sustainable tourism, and carbon footprint assessment in the travel industry.

Her research explores the interplay between climate policy, aviation dependency, and environmental risk management within the tourism sector, particularly focusing on Dutch outbound tour operators and their exposure to climate-related risks. She also contributes to practical tools for assessing sustainability in tourist destinations, such as the SASTDES Carbon Footprint Tool.

Van Adrichem has presented her work at academic events, including keynotes on stranded assets risk perceptions in tourism. Her publications span topics like low-carbon academic travel, aviation noise impacts, and radical sustainable tourism trends. She is involved in projects such as Climate Risks for Tourism (PhD candidate) and Mapping investment risks of aviation dependency (Principal Investigator).
