Dr. Trudy Corrigan is a Lecturer at the School of Policy & Practice within Dublin City University's Institute of Education. She founded the DCU Intergenerational Learning Programme (DCUILP) and co-established the DCU Age Friendly University Initiative (DCU AFU), now adopted by 51 institutions worldwide.
Her research focuses on adult education and lifelong learning, emphasizing intergenerational pedagogy and the scholarship of eldership. She explores how retired professionals can mentor students and how educational opportunities support independent aging. Her current Erasmus project investigates smart home technology for older adults.
Research contributions center on intergenerational learning models, rights of older adults, and age-friendly educational frameworks. Recent publications analyze organizational adaptation to aging workforces, digital inclusion strategies, and comparative studies of intergenerational programs across 11 countries.
As module coordinator, she oversees trainee teachers and supervises graduate research, having adapted her teaching to hybrid models during the pandemic.
