Troy McKenzie serves as Dean and Cecelia Goetz Professor of Law at NYU School of Law. He holds leadership roles as faculty co-director of the Institute of Judicial Administration and the Center on Civil Justice. His expertise spans bankruptcy, civil procedure, complex litigation, and federal courts. Previously, he served in the U.S. Department of Justice and as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
Education: JD, NYU School of Law (2000); BSE in Chemical Engineering, Princeton University (1997). Professional history includes litigation practice at Debevoise & Plimpton and service on the Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules.
Research focuses on litigation institutions and aggregation mechanisms, including class actions and bankruptcy processes. Courses taught include Bankruptcy, Complex Litigation, and the Business of Law Seminar.
Publications address topics such as legal governance structures, judicial independence, and bankruptcy reform. His work emphasizes institutional analysis and procedural innovation in the legal system.
