Trond Randøy is a Professor at the University of Agder's Department of Management and Innovation. With a PhD in international business and finance from NHH Bergen and an MBA from the University of Oregon, he has over 25 years of experience in corporate governance and board work across Norway, the USA, Asia, and Africa. He has taught strategy, finance, and international economics at universities including UiA, BI, NTNU, Oregon State University, Hanken Finland, University of Hawaii, and Curtin University, Australia.
His research focuses on Nordic corporate governance, board incentive structures, responsible financial institutions in emerging economies, and the interplay between globalization and value creation. Key publications include studies in Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, and Journal of Banking & Finance, often examining microfinance performance, institutional determinants, and cross-border alliance dynamics.
Randøy is the academic coordinator for the eMBA program and has co-founded multiple university-affiliated firms globally. He contributes to policy discussions on corporate governance through academic press and media outlets, including Dagens Næringsliv and Fædrelandsvennen. His recent work explores liability of foreignness, board virtuality during the pandemic, and CEO compliance in state-owned enterprises.
