Triton Mobley is an Assistant Professor of Studio Arts, English, and Film & Media Studies at the University of Pittsburgh’s Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. His interdisciplinary practice merges new media art with critical theory, focusing on performative installations, programmable fabrications, and speculative design to interrogate racialized spaces and digital Blackness.
Education: MFA in Digital+Media (Rhode Island School of Design) and PhD in Media Arts + Practice (University of Southern California as Annenberg Fellow).
Research interests include post-cinematic blackness, digital humanities, and socio-spatial critiques. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Soloway Gallery (2022) and Chazan Gallery (2024), alongside group exhibitions like 'Crisis of Image' at MOCA Arlington (2023). His work has been presented at Harvard, Sorbonne, and City University of Hong Kong conferences.
Publications include essays in Bloomsbury Press’ Materializing Digital Futures and forthcoming pieces in Techniques Journal and Pounds Per Inch. Awards include Surf Point Residency (2023) and MacColl-Johnson Fellowship finalist status.
Current projects include the Architectural Voids residency exploring urban topography through 20th-century highway expansion impacts. No formal grant details are provided, but residency support highlights ongoing research funding.
