Trijsje Franssen is an Assistant Professor in Ethics and Philosophy of Technology at Delft University of Technology's Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management. She holds a BA and MA in Philosophy (cum laude) and a BA in Spanish from the University of Amsterdam, and obtained her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Exeter (UK) in 2014, focusing on the 'posthuman', human enhancement, and myth.
Her research examines the human-technology relationship through philosophical and ethical lenses, with special interest in:
- Societal impacts of quantum, bio-, and information technologies
- Role of myth and science fiction in technological discourse
- Creative approaches to public engagement with emerging tech
- Ethical dimensions of self-creation and technological mediation
She leads several research initiatives:
- NWA-funded project on societal implications of quantum technologies (Leiden University)
- COMET2.0 project (4TU.CEE) developing innovative engineering ethics education methods
- Ethics Education for Engineers (SURF) creating teaching materials for 4TU universities
