Trevor W. Siggers is an Associate Professor of Biology at Boston University, affiliated with the Department of Biology. His research focuses on systems biology and gene regulation in immune and inflammatory systems, integrating biochemical and genomic approaches. He leads a lab exploring cis-regulatory logic and transcriptional networks, with projects centered on NF-κB and immune transcription factors.
Education: PhD from Columbia University. Courses taught include BI 560 (Systems Biology) and BI 385 (Immunology). His lab uses techniques like protein-binding microarrays (PBMs) and ChIP-seq to model gene regulatory mechanisms, particularly in innate immune cells. Collaborations include work with the Gilmore Lab and the Immunological Genome Project.
Key research themes include transcriptional regulatory codes, NF-κB dimer interactions, and the impact of environmental factors on immune responses. The lab has published extensively on transcription factor binding specificity, with recent work on NF-κB evolution in protists and its role in symbiotic systems. Students advised include Jessica Keenan, Ashley Penvose, and Kellen Andrilenas, among others, who have received awards like the DeLisi Award and Belamarich Dissertation Award.
Lab location: LSEB 306, 24 Cummington Mall, Boston. Contact: tsiggers@bu.edu.
