Saurabh Chattopadhyay is an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky in the Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics unit. He holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and completed postdoctoral training in Viral Immunology at the Cleveland Clinic.
Education
- B.Sc in Chemistry, University of Calcutta
- M.Sc in Biochemistry, University of Calcutta
- PhD in Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Viral Immunology, Cleveland Clinic
Research Interests
Dr. Chattopadhyay's research focuses on host-virus interactions, particularly the role of interferon regulatory factors (IRF3, IRF7) and NF-κB in innate immunity. His lab investigates:
- Molecular mechanisms of type-I interferon signaling
- Phosphorylation and ubiquitination of immune transcription factors
- High-throughput screening for antiviral genes and drugs
- Role of autophagy in viral infection
- Mouse models of viral pathogenesis
Publications
His recent work spans innate immunity, interferon signaling, viral inflammation, and host-targeted antivirals, with studies on:
- IRF3-NF-κB crosstalk in macrophages
- TLR9 phosphorylation mechanisms
- Interferon-stimulated gene TDRD7
- 14-3-3ζ in cytokine signaling
- Autophagy inhibition in viral infection
- SARS-CoV-2 wastewater surveillance
Laboratory
The Chattopadhyay Lab employs engineered cell lines and mouse models to dissect antiviral pathways, with a focus on therapeutic targets for respiratory viruses and coronavirus variants.
