Trevor R. Nelson serves as an Assistant Professor of Musicology in the School of Music within the College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University, based in Duerksen Fine Arts Center room B212.
He completed his Ph.D. at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester in 2023.
Dr. Nelson's research examines how music informed globally-minded British identity within the post-World War II Commonwealth, particularly through educational media during imperial decline. His current book project "Let's Make a Commonwealth: Musical Britishness at the Twilight of Empire" analyzes this phenomenon, with additional scholarly focus on music education radio/television programs, children's music cultures, and music's relationship to the British royal family.
