معرفی
Dr Trevor Mendel is a Senior Research Fellow at the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics, Australian National University (ANU). He holds a PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics from ANU (2010) and a Bachelor of Physics from Macalester College, USA. His research focuses on galaxy evolution, stellar populations, and interstellar medium dynamics, with particular emphasis on metallicity distributions, star formation processes, and AGN feedback mechanisms. He is actively involved in major observational surveys like MAGPI and KMOS3D, exploring galactic kinematics and environmental impacts across cosmic time.
His recent work includes studies on dwarf galaxy stellar abundance patterns (ACACIAS project), multiphase gas outflows in high-redshift galaxies, and the role of environment in shaping galaxy mass distributions. Dr Mendel leads the MAVIS instrument development project for the VLT, aiming to enhance astrometric precision for crowded stellar systems. He co-leads the 'Beacons in the Night' initiative, linking galaxy formation with dark matter simulations.
Key achievements include over 7495 citations and supervision of research students. His projects span observational instrumentation, computational modeling, and multi-wavelength galaxy analysis, contributing to our understanding of galactic evolution from cosmic dawn to present-day structures.
