Emily Wisnioski

Associate Professor Emily Wisnioski is a faculty member at The Australian National University (ANU), affiliated with the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics within the ANU College of Science and Medicine. Her research focuses on galaxy formation and evolution, galaxy dynamics, galactic archaeology, turbulence, the interstellar medium, and chemical evolution. She holds a B.S. from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD from Swinburne University of Technology.

Key projects include leadership roles in the MAGPI survey, exploring radial trends in star formation and galaxy dynamics, and collaborations on the ARC Centre of Excellence for All Sky Astrophysics in 3D (ASTRO 3D). She has supervised three PhD students: Isaac Kanowski, Jae Yeon Mun, and Purvi Udhwani.

Her work integrates observational and theoretical approaches, analyzing galactic structures, metallicity correlations, and gas kinematics using high-resolution surveys like TYPHOON and FRESCO. Recent studies investigate cosmic evolution, turbulence drivers, and the role of spiral arms in galactic processes.

Publications span topics such as dust properties in star-forming galaxies, metallicity gradients, and dark matter distribution. She actively contributes to international collaborations, advancing understanding of galaxy evolution across cosmic time.
