Dr. Trent Hanna is an Associate Professor and Director of Theory/Composition at Snow College's Horne School of Music. He teaches courses in music theory, composition, orchestration, piano, and chamber music, including specialized jazz ensembles.
Dr. Hanna holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of Texas at Austin. He maintains active membership in the Society of Composers.
His research explores contemporary music composition, experimental orchestration, and piano performance. Notable works include internationally premiered compositions like The Rorschach Test (piano concerto), Fanfare for Peace, and Quyannanana, which address themes ranging from psychological analysis to environmental events.
Significant recognitions include:
- First prize in the Contemporary Japanese and American Music Composition Competition
- Residencies at Dorland Mountain Arts Colony, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Millay Colony for the Arts
