Tracy Mensah is Assistant Professor of History at Western Carolina University's College of Arts and Sciences. She specializes in 20th century business history of Ghana and West Africa, with research interests in African urban and economic history and the history of African sexualities.
Mensah earned her PhD from Georgetown University and teaches undergraduate courses on African history, African diaspora studies, and global urban history. Her upcoming book manuscript examines South Asian retail and industrial activities in Ghana from the 1890s-1980s.
At WCU, she will teach specialized courses on History of African Sexualities (Fall 2025) and Global Urban History (Spring 2025). Mensah's research combines social history approaches with business history methodologies to examine economic networks in colonial and post-colonial West Africa.
