Tracy Johnson

Tracy Johnson is an Assistant Professor of K-6 Literacy in the School of Education at the University of Indianapolis, part of the College of Education & Behavioral Sciences. She teaches primary literacy and reading intervention courses, focusing on empowering educators to enhance children's literacy skills. Her research examines how children decode unfamiliar words during reading and how teacher scaffolding influences strategy use.

Dr. Johnson emphasizes hands-on classroom experience for students, designing impactful reading intervention programs that benefit both pre-service teachers and young learners. She values mentorship, stating she cares deeply about her students' success and well-being. Beyond academia, she enjoys reading, hiking, swimming, and karaoke.
