Krista Latham is a Professor in the Departments of Biology and Anthropology and Director of the University of Indianapolis Human Identification Center. She holds a PhD and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Anthropology (D-ABFA). Since 2013, Latham has volunteered in humanitarian missions to exhume and identify migrants buried in Brooks County, Texas, collaborating with Baylor University and Texas State University.
Her work combines forensic archaeology and anthropology to address human rights issues related to migration. Latham trains graduate students in field recovery and laboratory analysis techniques, emphasizing real-world application of forensic science. Her research interests include human skeletal biology, decomposition science, and humanitarian forensic response.
Latham's fieldwork involves rigorous physical challenges in extreme environments while maintaining focus on providing closure for families of the missing.
