Dr. Tracy Crane is an Associate Professor at the University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Miller School of Medicine. She co-leads the Cancer Control Research Program and directs Digital Health and Lifestyle Medicine initiatives for cancer survivorship. Her work integrates digital biomarkers and lifestyle interventions to optimize patient outcomes. She holds a PhD in Nurse Science from the University of Arizona and has been recognized for her contributions in cancer research and public health. Dr. Crane serves on multiple institutional and national committees, including NRG Oncology NCORP and the Miller School of Medicine’s Executive Dean cabinet.
Her research focuses on improving adherence to healthy behaviors (diet, exercise, tobacco cessation) among cancer patients and survivors. She has pioneered studies on digital health tools for intervention delivery and has explored topics like malnutrition risk, patient-reported outcomes, and the obesity paradox in colorectal cancer. Key roles include leadership in the Cancer Control Research Program and co-lead of the Behavioral Measurement and Interventions Shared Resource at the University of Arizona Cancer Center (prior appointment).
Dr. Crane’s awards include the Edith Sayer Auslander Emerging Visionary Award and recognition as a ‘40 Under 40’ leader. Her lab, the Crane Lab, investigates diet/exercise impacts on cancer survivorship, treatment side effects, and digital tools like remote health monitoring. She collaborates widely, including with clinical teams on disease-specific committees and advocacy groups.
