Tracy Campbell is the E. Vernon Smith and Eloise C. Smith Professor of American History at the University of Kentucky’s Department of History (College of Arts & Sciences). Specializing in 20th-century U.S. political and social history, he has authored five books, including award-winning titles like The Year of Peril: America in 1942 (2020), which won the Zalaznick Book Prize, and The Gateway Arch: A Biography (2013), honored with the Missouri History Book Award. He has been featured on NPR, PBS, and podcasts, and holds the title of American Historian Laureate from the New-York Historical Society.

His research explores themes such as World War II mobilization, public memory through monuments, and political scandals.
