Tracey Madgett is Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Plymouth's School of Biomedical Sciences. She leads the BSc Biomedical Science program and the Blood Diagnostics Research Group, focusing on translational applications in transfusion medicine and prenatal diagnostics.
Her research leverages next-generation sequencing for blood group genotyping and non-invasive prenatal testing. Key projects include developing portable nanopore-based RhD genotyping and diagnostics for beta-thalassemia. She teaches molecular biology and clinical haematology across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
She has supervised 8 PhD students to completion in areas like erythrocyte storage and cell-free fetal DNA enrichment. Her work advances genomic applications in clinical haematology.
