Tovah Day is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Northeastern University's College of Science. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of G quadruplex DNA structures in genome stability and cancer. She leads the Day Lab, which employs interdisciplinary approaches including biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and computational biology to study G quadruplexes in telomeres and their roles in cancer progression.
Dr. Day's work emphasizes understanding how G quadruplexes contribute to genome instability, particularly in tumors utilizing alternative telomere maintenance mechanisms. Her lab aims to translate this knowledge into therapeutic strategies for malignant diseases. She holds a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Grant (2022) recognizing her early-career contributions to research and education.
Key research areas include DNA damage response pathways, chromatin remodeling, and epigenetic regulation. Her team collaborates with the Institute for Chemical Imaging of Living Systems to develop imaging tools for chemical processes in disease contexts.
- Key Awards: NSF CAREER Grant (2022)
- Labs/Teams: Day Lab, Institute for Chemical Imaging of Living Systems
- Research Focus: G4 DNA biology, cancer genomics, telomere maintenance, DNA repair mechanisms
