Toshihiro Higuchi serves as Associate Professor of History at Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), currently on research leave for Academic Year 2024-25 while holding a fellowship at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars. He will resume teaching in Fall 2025.

Research Focus: Higuchi specializes in the international history of the nuclear age, examining scientific, technological, and environmental dimensions through interdisciplinary lenses connecting environmental studies, history of science, and Pacific Asia regional analysis. His work integrates archival research with contemporary policy implications regarding radiological protection and environmental crises.

Leadership & Service: As Field Chair of Regional and Comparative Studies (RCST) at SFS, he directs academic programming while serving as official historian for the International Commission on Radiological Protection. He currently edits Kagakusi kenkyu and holds secretary roles in the Peace History Society, contributing to multiple collaborative research projects and edited volumes across environmental history and international relations societies.
