Tory L. Lucas

Tory L. Lucas is Professor of Law at Liberty University School of Law, a position he has held since 2011. Previously, he served as a visiting or adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska College of Law, Stetson University College of Law, Creighton University School of Law, Troy State University, and Bellevue University. His career also encompasses federal judicial clerkships with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and service as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Air Force.

Research & Teaching Interests:
Professor Lucas focuses on Property Law, Disability Law, Federal Jurisdiction, Legal Ethics, Employment & Labor Law, and Trusts & Estates. He has designed and taught courses ranging from first-year foundational subjects to specialized seminars within Liberty’s Honors Program and has delivered external lectures on Supreme Court nominations, constitutional interpretation, identity theft, and sports law.

Scholarly Output:
Across two decades, Lucas has published extensively in leading law reviews—including Lewis & Clark, Nebraska, Drake, and Liberty University Law Review—addressing disability rights, ethical obligations of counsel, federal jurisdiction, and the intersection of morality and law. Recurring themes include rigorous doctrinal analysis and reformist critiques aimed at aligning legal practice with ethical and constitutional ideals.
