Professor Tony Parker is an Associate Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where he also serves as Academic Lead in Indigenous Health, Deputy Program Leader of the Tissue Repair and Translational Physiology (TRTP) Group, and Chief Scientific Officer of Surgical BioFix Ltd. His research focuses on wound healing, proteomics, metabolomics, and the biochemical implications of tissue injury. He has published over 37 peer-reviewed articles and attracted $3.6M in research funding. Parker leads international collaborations with institutions like A*STAR (Singapore), Tulane University, and the University of Kentucky. His work includes developing world-class proteomics capabilities at QUT’s CARF and pioneering studies on burn wound fluid analysis and exercise-induced neuroprotection.
Teaching roles include coordinating units in Anatomy, Physiology, and Honours research. Research interests span biomarker discovery, chronic wound management, and systems biology approaches to tissue repair. Notable achievements include the QUT Vice Chancellor’s Performance Award (2015) and organizing major conferences like AB3ACBS 2016. He has supervised 15 Honours and 22 higher-degree students, contributing to training the next generation of biomedical researchers.
Current projects include investigating biomarkers for burn classification and leveraging integrative omics for stress response analysis. His work bridges clinical and translational research, with applications in biotechnology and patient care.
