Tony Castro

Tony Castro is an Associate Professor of Social Studies Education in the Department of Learning, Teaching & Curriculum at the University of Missouri's College of Education & Human Development. He serves as Director of Qualitative Inquiry and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in diversity, social studies education, curriculum development, teacher education, and qualitative research methods.

His research centers on preparing teachers for culturally diverse and urban school contexts, with specific focus on critical multicultural citizenship education and teaching practices that promote equity and social justice. Castro conducts professional development workshops for educators on diversity, civic practices, and teacher development.
