Professor Tony Bridgwater is a leading academic in Chemical Engineering at Aston University, specializing in biomass thermal conversion for biofuels and chemicals. He leads the Bioenergy Research Group and is part of the Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. His career spans over 20 years in bioenergy research, with significant contributions to fast pyrolysis and biorefinery systems.
Education:
- BSc(Hons) in Chemical Engineering from UMIST
- PhD and DSc from Aston University
Research interests focus on biomass-derived fuels/chemicals, fast pyrolysis optimization, and bioenergy systems. He has secured £25M+ in grants, establishing EBRI. Notable roles include Technical Director of the UK SUPERGEN Bioenergy programs.
