Tonia Poteat is a Professor in the Duke University School of Nursing and co-director of the Duke SGM Wellness Program. Her work focuses on HIV and LGBTQ health, particularly the health of transgender communities. She is certified as an HIV Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.

Recent Research Trends: Analysis of structural drivers affecting transgender women’s health, implementation of transgender-specific HIV care models, and mixed-methods studies on nonhormonal gender-affirming practices.
