Toni Coley

Toni Coley is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Allied Health and Midwifery at the University of Wolverhampton, Faculty of Education, Health & Wellbeing, based at the Walsall Campus. She has been a member of the midwifery teaching team since September 2020 and is a registered midwife with a strong clinical and academic background in maternal and neonatal care.

Her educational qualifications include a BSc in Midwifery Studies (First Class Honours) from the University of Wolverhampton and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), reflecting her commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.

Toni is passionate about woman-centered care, inclusivity, and advocating for neurodivergent individuals in healthcare and education. Her clinical experience spans midwifery-led care, continuity teams, antenatal education for hard-to-reach groups, and supporting pregnant individuals with substance use disorders. She emphasizes listening to and empowering birthing people throughout their care journey.

She serves as module leader for two key midwifery modules: Fundamental Care of Mother and Baby 2 for first-year students and Advanced Care of Mother and Baby, a third-year double module that fosters critical thinking and independent clinical decision-making in complex situations.

Toni plays a leadership role in service user involvement and co-production within the midwifery program, ensuring that lived experiences shape curriculum delivery. She also leads undergraduate recruitment and admissions for midwifery programs at the university.
