Ton Satink is a Lecturer at the Neurorehabilitation - Self-Management and Participation research group at HAN University of Applied Sciences, part of the Academy of Paramedical Studies. His research focuses on neurorehabilitation, emphasizing personalized care, self-management, and participation in daily activities for individuals with neurological disorders. He transitioned from clinical practice as an occupational therapist to academia, earning a PhD in 2016 on self-management in stroke rehabilitation and completing postdoctoral research on practice-integrated education. His work addresses transitioning neurorehabilitation to primary care settings and fostering collaboration across healthcare disciplines.
Key projects include improving home rehabilitation after strokes, developing the 'Activity Weigher' tool for activity planning, and promoting inclusive societal participation through initiatives like the NAH theater group in Nijmegen. He contributes to education via the Master’s program in Neurorehabilitation and Innovation, training future professionals. Ton also holds a secondary role as a staff lecturer in the European Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and is involved in the Occupational Therapy Guideline Brain Injury Sounding Board Group.
His research aligns with themes of 'Fair Health' and 'Smart Region,' aiming to enhance equal opportunities and regional healthcare organization. Notable collaborations include projects funded by RAAK subsidies and the establishment of the Lectorenplatform Leven met Hoofdzaken to streamline interdisciplinary research.
