Professor Jennifer Fleming is a Professor of Occupational Therapy at The University of Queensland, affiliated with the Centre for Neurorehabilitation, Ageing and Balance Research. Her research focuses on brain injury rehabilitation, including self-awareness development, prospective memory, and community integration post-injury. She holds fellowships with the Occupational Therapy Australia Research Academy and the Australasian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment, and co-edits the journal Brain Impairment.
Education: Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) and PhD from The University of Queensland. Her work includes developing the Self-Awareness of Deficits Interview, a global assessment tool for brain injury rehabilitation, and co-designing the Acquired Brain Injury Transitional Rehabilitation Service in Queensland.
Research interests span traumatic brain injury outcomes, cognitive rehabilitation, and assistive technologies. She leads over 30 funded projects, including NHMRC grants and industry partnerships, and has supervised over 30 doctoral and master’s students. Key grants include projects on neurological rehabilitation, virtual environments for self-awareness, and physical activity programs for disability.
Awards include recognition for her contributions to neurorehabilitation and clinical practice. Her clinical practice and research emphasize evidence-based interventions and patient-centered care.
