Tomás Gerich is a PhD Researcher at the University of Stirling's School of History and Politics, affiliated with the Centre for Environment, Heritage and Policy (CEHP). He is conducting a SGSAH-funded project in partnership with the National Trust for Scotland, titled 'Reframing building conservation: Examining relationships between materialities, communities and values.' His research explores the impact of conservation practices on built heritage, employing mixed methods including visual recording, archival study, and ethnography.
Prior to his PhD, he earned a BA in Archaeology from the University of Glasgow and an Erasmus Mundus Master in Architecture, Landscape, Archaeology (ALA) from Sapienza University of Rome. He worked as a professional archaeologist in Slovakia for 2.5 years at the Michalovce Regional Museum and the Archaeological Institute of Slovakia, contributing to excavation and research projects.
His research interests focus on critical heritage studies, community engagement in conservation, and the interplay between material culture and societal values. He is part of the University's Cultural Heritage Research theme and the CEHP research group.
