Tommy Wiklind is a Research Professor in the Department of Physics at Catholic University, affiliated with the School of Arts and Sciences. His career includes prior roles at the European Space Agency, the Space Telescope Science Institute (NICMOS Team), the European Southern Observatory, and the Joint ALMA Observatory. He previously held an Associate Professor position at Chalmers Technical University in Sweden.
His research focuses on multi-wavelength studies of galaxy formation and evolution using sub-millimeter and far-infrared observations. Key projects include analysis of the CANDELS survey data, ALMA observations of molecular absorption lines in high-redshift galaxies, and investigations into spectral energy distribution fitting. Wiklind has pioneered techniques linking local galaxy analogs to high-redshift systems through far-infrared emission line diagnostics.
Publications emphasize ALMA's role in resolving interstellar medium properties, with recent work exploring metallicity diagnostics in galaxy analogs and refining photometric redshift methodologies. His work frequently integrates HST, VLT, and Spitzer data to achieve comprehensive cosmological insights.
Wiklind collaborates extensively with international teams such as the CANDELS consortium and ALMA science verification groups. His research addresses fundamental questions about galactic gas content evolution, star formation histories, and the interplay between AGN activity and galaxy evolution.
