Tommaso Sonno is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Bologna, with affiliations at the London School of Economics (CEP), Bocconi University, Johns Hopkins SAIS, and ISPI. He serves as Vice Director of the PNRR Lab at SDA Bocconi and as a Board member at Anemocyte. His research focuses on political economy, globalization, conflicts, and populism, with notable work on multinational corporations in Africa and the impact of papal speeches on conflict reduction. He teaches courses on international economics, political economy, and public policy.
He leads initiatives for early-career researchers, including the Junior Trade Workshop and the Economics Job Market Bootcamp in Tuscany. Additionally, he co-founded Nasara For Burkina, a nonprofit in Burkina Faso addressing education, health, and community development. His work integrates empirical analysis with policy relevance, emphasizing long-term socio-economic impacts.
