Tommaso Nannicini is a Full-time Professor at the European University Institute's Florence School of Transnational Governance, holding a Chair in Political Economy. He is concurrently on leave from Bocconi University where he serves as Full Professor of Political Economy. His academic background includes a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Florence, an M.A. in Economics from Bocconi University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute.
His research focuses on political economy, applied econometrics, comparative politics, labor policy, and social policy. Current projects examine the social acceptance of marriages between descendants of opposing sides in civic conflicts and declining trust in institutions.
Professor Nannicini's publication record shows consistent focus on political economy mechanisms, electoral behavior, and policy impacts, with recent work exploring gender dynamics in political campaigns, historical determinants of extremism, and fiscal policy during economic crises.
