Dr. Tomas Maltby is a Reader in International Politics at King's College London's Department of Political Economy, part of the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. He specializes in climate and energy policy, particularly within the EU context, focusing on energy transitions, air pollution governance, and climate scepticism. His research bridges political economy and environmental policy, addressing issues like agenda-setting, securitization, and the political dimensions of environmental challenges.
Education: BA in International Relations (University of Leicester), MA in Research Methods (University of Sheffield), PhD (University of Manchester). He has held research and teaching roles at King's College London since 2014 and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
Research Interests: Climate policy implementation, EU energy governance, energy transitions in Central/Eastern Europe, and the political economy of climate denial. He leads projects like the 'Just Transitions and Power Shifts' initiative exploring energy shifts in the North Sea region and has contributed to the King's Climate Research Hub.
