Dr. Radostina Schivatcheva is a Lecturer in International Political Economy at King's College London's Department of European & International Studies, within the School of Politics & Economics. She holds dual PhDs: one in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge (2024) and another in Political Economy from King's College London (2022). Her research focuses on the interplay between technological innovation, sustainable development, and EU policy frameworks amid the digital revolution and green transition.
Her work examines knowledge-based industries like biotechnology and information technology, analyzing how industrial policies adapt to global shifts. She has contributed to projects such as the EU-funded EURECA initiative and the International Inequalities Institute at LSE. Awards include the Manfred Heindler Research Grant (2017) and DAAD grants through the University Alliance for Sustainability (2015-2016).
Her teaching includes courses on Italian Politics & Economics, Postcolonial Political Economy, and European Union policy dynamics. Her recent publications explore the EU's AI governance, sustainable finance taxonomy, and transformation of innovation policies toward strategic alignment.
Dr. Schivatcheva's research also engages with the EU's socio-technical transitions to a circular economy and the application of neo-Schumpeterian theories to regional development strategies. She is affiliated with King's Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy and is based at the Virginia Woolf Building in London.
