Dr. Andrew Judge is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the Department of Political & International Studies. He currently serves as Programme Director for the MA Social Sciences. His research focuses on Global Energy Politics, International Relations, and innovative pedagogical methods like virtual reality in teaching. He has contributed to understanding securitization theory, EU energy policy dynamics, and crisis governance. His work bridges theoretical research with practical applications, including policy writing assessments and mentoring practices in higher education.
His research interests include three core areas: the political rationale behind learning in International Relations, the securitization of political issues, and accelerating energy transitions while ensuring energy justice. He has published widely on EU energy security, Brexit impacts, and pandemic governance. Teaching innovations using VR technology have been central to recent projects, focusing on microbiology education and experiential learning.
His articles highlight trends in energy and security studies, EU policy analysis, and educational technology. Notable works include frameworks for securitization success and studies on social distancing compliance during the pandemic. He has also engaged in grants exploring Brexit’s crisis governance implications. As an Associate Editor of the Politics journal, he actively contributes to academic discourse.
