Tom van der Wielen

Tom van der Wielen is a Researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP), working within the Development of Research Technology department. He is a core member of the Astrophotonics (innoFSPEC) research group, which develops photonic technologies for astronomical instrumentation.

His research focuses on advancing astrophotonics and astronomical instrumentation through innovative optical engineering solutions. Key interests include spectroscopic technology development, photonic device integration for telescopes, and improving observational capabilities in ground-based astronomy. This work directly supports AIP's mission in developing next-generation astronomical instrumentation.

As part of the innoFSPEC collaboration between AIP and the University of Potsdam, van der Wielen contributes to interdisciplinary projects bridging astrophysics and photonics. His office is located at LH/0-01 in the AIP facility at An der Sternwarte 16, Potsdam.
