معرفی
Dr. Aashia Rahman is a Research Fellow in the Development of Research Technology department at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP), specializing in astrophotonics and astronomical instrumentation. She is a core member of the Astrophotonics (innoFSPEC) research group, focusing on advancing photonic technologies for ground-based telescopes.
Her research spans astrophotonics, optical instrumentation, and infrared astronomy with particular emphasis on OH sky line suppression systems. Rahman's work addresses critical challenges in near-infrared observations by developing temperature-stable filters and high-efficiency spectrographs that mitigate atmospheric emission interference. Her methodological approach integrates precision optics, mechanical engineering, and astronomical observation requirements to enhance instrument sensitivity and reliability.
Rahman's publication record demonstrates consistent innovation in astronomical instrumentation, with recent work (2020-2025) focusing on practical implementation of OH suppression technologies. The 2025 Optics Express paper details manufacturing breakthroughs for temperature-compensating filter packages, while the 2020 MNRAS publication established foundational proof-of-concept for OH suppression in near-infrared spectrographs. These contributions reflect her central role in bridging photonics research with real-world astronomical applications.
Within the Astrophotonics (innoFSPEC) group, Rahman collaborates extensively with the Technical Section's Precision Mechanics Workshop, Mechanical Engineering, and Technical Software teams. Her projects involve cross-disciplinary development of next-generation instrumentation components, including 3D spectroscopy systems and specialized optical assemblies for major observatories.
