Tom Mole is a Professor of English Literature and Book History and Director of the Centre for the History of the Book at the University of Edinburgh. He holds an academic affiliation with the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures. His research focuses on British Romantic literature (particularly Lord Byron’s poetry), Book History, Print Culture, celebrity studies, periodical writing, and reception history.
Education and Career:

Research Contributions: His award-winning book What the Victorians Made of Romanticism (2017) redefined scholarly understanding of Romanticism’s Victorian reception. He currently directs the interdisciplinary Centre for the History of the Book, which explores material text culture from manuscripts to digital media. His new project, The Secret Life of Books, examines reciprocal relationships between books and readers.
