Professor Tom Jackson is a Professor of Information and Knowledge Management at Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics, affiliated with the Centre for Information Management. With over 20 years of research experience, he has secured £40M in research funding and pioneered systems like EMOTIVE, renowned for emotion detection accuracy and real-time prediction applications. His work spans digital decarbonisation, information overload, and email communication impact.
Education: BSc(Hons), PhD in Information Management, Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS). Research focuses on semantic analysis, ontology development, and digital transformation. Notable achievements include predicting election outcomes via social media analytics and reducing police operational inefficiencies through mobile data terminal implementations.
Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Knowledge Management and Research Practice, with editorial roles at IRMJ, IJCEC, and others. Awards include the Leicestershire Police Innovation Award for public sector technology integration. His work bridges academia and industry, addressing digital transformation challenges in sectors like energy, policing, and cultural heritage.
Research interests include the dark side of digital decarbonisation, real-time emotion analytics, and organizational knowledge retention.
