معرفی
Tom Honeyands is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Newcastle. His expertise lies in metallurgical engineering, particularly in ironmaking processes, sintering technology, and blast furnace operations. He holds a PhD from the University of Newcastle (1994) and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from the University of Auckland (New Zealand).
- Research focuses on iron ore properties, sintering, and blast furnace efficiency.
- Leadership roles: Director of Creative Process Innovation (2006–2015), Research Engineer at BHP Billiton (1995–2002).
- Key projects: AMIRA P1097 (transportable moisture limit for iron ores), Marx Value in Use (VIU) model development.
Research interests include optimizing iron ore utilization, hydrogen injection in blast furnaces, and low-carbon ironmaking technologies. Collaborations involve institutions like CSIRO, Auckland University, and Zhejiang University.
Labs/Teams: Centre for Ironmaking Materials Research (CIMR), ARC Research Hub for Advanced Technologies for Australian Iron Ore.
