Tom Galmarini

Tom Galmarini serves as Associate Professor of Graphic Design and Illustration within the Department of Visual Arts at McNeese State University's College of Liberal Arts. He joined the institution in early 2019 after relocating from South Carolina, where he previously worked as Creative Specialist for Santee Cooper and taught as an adjunct professor at the Art Institute of Charleston.

Education:

Research Interests: Galmarini's academic focus centers on Graphic Design and Illustration, with emphasis on practical industry applications. He teaches comprehensive coursework spanning introductory to advanced levels including ART 225 (Introduction to Graphic Design), ART 305/306 (Intermediate Illustration), ART 326/327 (Intermediate Graphic Design), ART 405/406 (Advanced Illustration), ART 426/427 (Advanced Graphic Design), and ART 430 (Graphic Design Portfolio). His professional background in commercial design and ownership of DIG Creative informs his pedagogical approach.

Professional Background: Prior to academia, Galmarini worked as production artist for a printing company and graphic designer at the Ohio Aerospace Institute. His industry experience includes serving as Creative Specialist for Santee Cooper, South Carolina’s electric and water utility.

Personal: A Cleveland, Ohio native, Galmarini maintains strong ties to his hometown sports teams (Guardians, Cavaliers, Browns) and is an avid Pearl Jam enthusiast—his shared fandom with wife Jill initiated their courtship. He resides in Lake Charles with his family, pursuing painting, sketching, cycling, basketball coaching, and Apple product advocacy.
