Todd Pettigrew is a Professor in the LiFTA department at Cape Breton University (CBU), where he has been teaching since 2000. He holds a PhD in English Language and Literature from the University of Waterloo (1998). His teaching focuses on English and Drama courses such as Shakespeare, History of the English Language, Detective Fiction, and Play Production. His research explores the interplay of literature, culture, and history in the English Renaissance, with notable publications including the award-winning monograph Shakespeare and the Practice of Physic (2007), and the edited works The Major Works of John Cotta (2019) and The Broadview Edition of Francis Beaumont’s The Knight of the Burning Pestle (2023).
His expertise spans Shakespeare, Renaissance Drama, History of Medicine, and History of Debt. Beyond academia, he is active in community arts as a musician, actor, and writer.
