Todd Lu serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati, where he conducts research at the intersection of environmental policy and social justice. He earned his PhD in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2025.
His research critically examines U.S. climate mitigation and adaptation politics through two primary lenses: first, analyzing collaborative initiatives between labor unions and environmental organizations on green jobs and heat stress mitigation strategies; second, investigating the transformative impact of Black Lives Matter protests on racial justice integration within mainstream environmental organizations. This work bridges environmental sociology, labor studies, and movement politics to understand evolving political alliances.
Dr. Lu's scholarly contributions have been published in leading interdisciplinary journals including Environmental Politics, Mobilization, and Socius, demonstrating significant recognition in both environmental and sociological research communities.
