Todd Hedrick is a Professor of Philosophy at Michigan State University within the College of Arts & Letters. He specializes in social/political philosophy, the philosophy of law, and Frankfurt School critical theory, with additional expertise in Hegelian and Nietzschean thought. He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Northwestern University in 2006 and is actively advising graduate students.
His research focuses on reconciliation theory, reification analysis, and the interplay between legal structures and social dynamics. Key works include Reconciliation and Reification (Oxford, 2019) and Rawls and Habermas (Stanford, 2010), which explore themes of freedom, normativity, and institutional mediation.
Recent publications engage Adorno’s cultural theory, Marxian legal philosophy, and the evolution of critical social theory. His work often bridges historical figures like Hegel and Nietzsche with contemporary debates in political and legal philosophy.
While no formal awards are listed, his extensive publication record and authored books highlight significant contributions to critical theory and political philosophy. He maintains an open mentorship approach for graduate students interested in these areas.
