Todd A. Watkins is a Professor of Economics and Executive Director of the Martindale Center for the Study of Private Enterprise at Lehigh University. He also directs Lehigh's Microfinance Program and Entrepreneurship Program. His research focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, technology policy, and financial inclusion. He has authored over 75 publications and co-edited influential books on microfinance.
Education:

- Master’s and Ph.D. in Public Policy, Harvard University
Research & Leadership: Watkins leads initiatives like Lehigh’s Integrated Product Development (IPD) Program, which won the ASME Curriculum Innovation Award. He advises student startups and has secured over $15 million in grants. His work bridges academia and practice, including roles with the U.S. Department of Commerce and NASA advisory committees.
Awards & Recognition: Recipient of multiple teaching awards and recognized for entrepreneurship education; Lehigh’s entrepreneurship program was ranked among the top 20 nationally under his leadership.
Community & Boards: Serves on boards of Rising Tide Community Loan Fund, Lehigh Valley Arts & Cultural Alliance, Humanitarian Social Innovations, and the Africa Network. He co-founded Lehigh’s COPRS and Microfinance Program.
