Lawrence V. Snyder is the Harvey E. Wagner Endowed Chair Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Lehigh University and serves as Deputy Provost for Faculty Affairs. He previously directed Lehigh's Institute for Data, Intelligent Systems, and Computation (I-DISC). His research focuses on supply chain management, energy systems, and optimization under uncertainty, with applications in logistics, renewable energy, and cybersecurity.
Dr. Snyder earned his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Industrial Engineering (Northwestern University) and Mathematics (Amherst College). He co-authored the award-winning textbook *Fundamentals of Supply Chain Theory* (Wiley, 2011/2019), serves on editorial boards for Transportation Science, IISE Transactions, and OMEGA, and is a Senior Research Fellow at Opex Analytics. He leads Lehigh's Integrated Networks for Electricity (INE) research cluster and Power from Oceans, Rivers, and Tides (PORT) lab.
His research explores robust supply chain design, energy infrastructure optimization, and machine learning applications. Recent work addresses cyber-physical system vulnerabilities, smart grid integration, and reinforcement learning for inventory control. His funding comes from NSF, DOE, and industry partners. Awards include the IIE Book-of-the-Year Award (2012) and IISE Fellowship (2024).
Dr. Snyder advises on grants totaling millions and has mentored numerous students through collaborative projects. His labs pioneer innovations in ocean wave energy farms and resilient electricity networks. He actively bridges academia and industry via advisory roles and conference presentations.
