Toby Litt is an Associate Professor in Creative Writing at the University of Southampton and a prominent author known for innovative narrative techniques and environmental activism through literature. He previously taught at Birkbeck College, University of London, where he established the MFA in Creative Writing. His research focuses on contemporary writing as environmental activism, autofiction, and experimental memoir. Notable publications include Patience (2019), shortlisted for the Republic of Consciousness Prize, and A Writer's Diary (2023), an ongoing online autofiction project. Litt is also editor of the Writers Rebel website, advocating for climate-conscious storytelling.
Education: BA in English from Worcester College, Oxford; MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia under Malcolm Bradbury. Awards include Granta's Best of Young British Novelists (2003). His work spans novels, short stories, and collaborations in opera and comics, such as Dead Boy Detectives (Netflix adaptation forthcoming).
