Professor Roumyana Slabakova holds the Chair in Applied Linguistics at the University of Southampton and serves as Head of Research for the Modern Languages and Linguistics department. Her research focuses on generative linguistic theory and second language acquisition, examining the acquisition of grammatical structures and their interaction with meaning through psycholinguistic methodologies.
She has produced over 70 articles in top-tier journals, four monographs, and edited three volumes. Currently co-editing Second Language Research (SAGE) and the Language Acquisition and Linguistic Disorders series (John Benjamins), she actively contributes to academic governance through roles on scientific advisory boards.
