Prof. Dr. Tobias Hurth is a Professor at the Cluster of Excellence PRISMA+ and the Department of Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics (THEP) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He is also affiliated with the CERN Theory Division. His research focuses on particle physics phenomenology, particularly the interplay of collider and flavour physics in new physics searches. Key areas include Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), Soft Collinear Effective Theory (SCET), QCD corrections, CP violation, and neutrino physics. He coordinates the Mainz Institute for Theoretical Physics (MITP) and has organized numerous international workshops on flavour physics and collider phenomenology. His work involves collaborations with leading researchers in the field, and he contributes to teaching advanced courses such as Flavour Physics and Effective Field Theories.
Prof. Hurth's research group addresses topics like rare B decays, renormalisation group effects in SMEFT, and theoretical predictions for observables at experiments like LHCb and Belle II. His contributions span both theoretical developments and phenomenological analyses, aiming to bridge gaps between high-energy collider data and precision flavour physics measurements.
