Tobias Biermann is a research engineer at Lund University’s Centre for Environmental and Climate Science (CEC), Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science. He contributes to the BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate initiative and works at the ICOS Sweden site Hyltemossa, a long-term observatory for greenhouse gases in a managed spruce forest.
His research spans climate science, carbon cycle dynamics, and ecosystem monitoring, with a focus on atmospheric greenhouse gases, forest carbon fluxes, and sustainable land-use practices. Key methodologies include eddy-covariance, remote sensing, and inverse modeling.
Recent publications highlight his work on pesticide degradation in air, CH4 emission inventories, and forest reflectivity validation. He supervises master’s students and collaborates on projects addressing climate resilience in forests and agriculture.
